The goal of humanitarian forensic action is to provide some of the same benefits in post conflict, post disaster settings as part of the overall humanitarian response. Managing the dead, including protecting their dignity but also helping to identify them to prevent and resolve the tragedy of people missing, is one of the three pillars of humanitarian response following conflicts or disasters, along with caring for survivors and restoring basic services
